Army holds on to beat Miami (Ohio) in double OT in wild, must-watch ending
In one of the wildest finishes of the college football season, Army held on to escape Miami (Ohio) in double overtime on Saturday, stopping the RedHawks' attempt at a two-point conversion for a 31-30 decision.
After Miami quarterback Gus Ragland found Luke Mayock in the end zone for an 18-yard touchdown in the game's second overtime, RedHawks coach Chuck Martin opted to go for the win instead of settle for a tying extra point.
Army reacted well and nearly sacked Ragland on a play that appeared dead, but the QB flung a desperation pass. Receiver Kenny Young made the grab and weaved through Army defenders — only to come up a couple of few yards short of the end zone.
With the victory, Army became the first FBS team this season to not complete a pass in a game. Quarterback Cam Thomas, who rushed for 137 yards, only attempted two passes, both of which went incomplete.
Miami's Ragland passed for 329 yards and four touchdowns in the loss.
